Bad Sectors or Faulty/Corrupt Clusters on Hard Disk Drive? – How To Install Windows


When installing windows from a new CD, DVD or Network, and during the installation process it just hangs or freezes for days and days.

Possible Cause:

This could be that your hard disk drive has a few bad sectors or faulty/corrupt clusters. To get pass the problem you can try the following.


Start the installation process again.

Select install Windows and follow the wizard.

Create a partition of 5GB (You can create 10GB, 15GB or 20GB partition depending on your nature)

Install windows on the remainder of the hard disk drive
